Chicago rooftops are second to none, and that’s why they’re usually packed during the summer. Maybe it’s the small town girl in me, but I’m always on the pursuit of the best skyline #views. Check out some of my favorite rooftop spots around the city:
Joy District — River North
Bar on the first floor, club on the second floor, AND a rooftop? It’s the best, and only a few stumbles away from the rest of Hubbard’s nightlife. Girls get in free, but there’s often cover for men. So ladies, leave your men at home. My go-to drink is always a vodka soda, but once, my friend was talking to a guy who said, “Wow, your friend is really feeling it!” and my friend assured him, “Oh, she’s actually just drinking water tonight!” So you’ll be dancing regardless.
Waydown at Ace Hotel — West Loop
Waydown is West Loop’s best public rooftop, and you’re far enough away to see the incredible skyline. There’s still another end where you can see just the sunrise, in case you want to make the rounds. I definitely recommend their Sherry Colada — just try it.
Cabana Club at the Robey — Wicker Park
This rooftop bar opened last summer and offers killer views from the Six Corners. The pool is laughably small, but isn’t that the point? They offer La Croix cocktails for all the basic betches, but I can’t resist their frozen drinks, like their take on frose, “Made You Blush.”
Cerise at Virgin Hotel — Loop
Most Chicagoans avoid the Loop since that’s where all the tourists go, but you can usually get a table at Cerise to take in the serious views. Their sangria is amazing, but I also recommend sharing a bottle of bubbly with your table. It’s a better deal, and who doesn’t love prosecco?
J. Parker at the Lincoln Hotel — Lincoln Park
You can’t help but feel classy as you soak in Lincoln Park’s views at the J. Parker. Be warned that there is often a line at night. The cocktail menu is a little overwhelming, so depending on how much you’ve had to drink already, just go with your standard drink or order the frose.
Devereaux at the Viceroy — Gold Coast
This hotel bar in Chicago’s Viagra Triangle makes you feel bougie af. I recommend either their Rose Cobbler or their Rhubarb Soda for something light and refreshing as you guess who’s a sugar daddy.
Old Crow — Wrigleyville
I mean… I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this as a rooftop… but if you’re in Wrigley and looking for a rooftop, you should go here. Get some of their moonshine because you know you’ll be dancing to their country music downstairs on your way out!
ENRGi Fitness — River North
Honorable mention because although it’s not a bar, we offer amazing rooftop fitness classes! Whether yoga or HIIT, you can get your rooftop fix while sweating. It’s a win-win.
